Pineapple Cake

Every once in awhile a gal just wants something a little sweet. Something that tastes good but is easy and not fussy.

This is the cake for that.

In fact, one of the names that it's picked up over time is "Preacher Cake" because it's a cake that one could potentially throw together right after church and before the preacher's home visit, although folks tend to add spices to it now.

Brown Sugar Chicken with Bacon

Brown Sugar Chicken with Bacon - my take on the popular three ingredient chicken, made with boneless, skinless chicken breasts, dredged in a seasoned brown sugar and wrapped in bacon.

Brown Sugar Chicken with Bacon

I know that by now you've probably seen the three ingredient chicken recipe floating around Pinterest and Facebook. It uses chicken, a packet of dry Italian dressing and seasoning mix with brown sugar. It's quite a tasty recipe as it stands, very easy and everybody seems to really enjoy it.

Old Fashioned Coffee Cake

Old Fashioned Coffee Cake. A very simple, but classic and tender old fashioned coffee cake, made with brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans, comes together quick and easy. Serve with a drizzle of cream, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream & a piping hot cup of coffee.

Old Fashioned Coffee Cake

To me, this is what represents a true, old-fashioned coffee cake.

Nothing fancy, very basic, just a perfectly simple sweet batter that produces a light cake, topped with a crunchy trio crumble of brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans that pleasantly invades your senses. Perfect served at the kitchen table still warm from the oven, piping hot coffee in hand, over gossip with your best friend.

Apple Upside Down Cornmeal Cake

Pretty much everybody is familiar with Pineapple Upside Down Cake, but when I saw Sunny Anderson do an upside down cornmeal cake on one of her episodes, I knew I'd eventually get around to trying one of those.

As time went on, I had all but forgotten about it until I saw one featured in the October issue of Better Homes and Gardens Magazine.
