Ground Beef Mac and Cheese Casserole

This ground beef casserole, made with a simple box of macaroni and cheese, is a weeknight favorite around our house. It comes together easy and bakes in no time. It's also a potluck favorite (double it) because while it's basic, it's well seasoned, flavorful and just good old fashioned comfort food. Nobody will know you started with a box of mac and cheese!

How to Make a Homemade Buttermilk Substitute

For each cup of buttermilk needed, to a one cup measure or larger, add one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice or white vinegar, then top off with whole milk. Stir and let sit to "sour" for about 15 minutes. Stir again and proceed with recipe.

It's not a perfect substitute, but it'll generally work in a pinch!

In some recipes, 3/4 cup of plain, unflavored yogurt and 1/4 cup of whole milk will also work as a substitute for buttermilk.

Apple Recipes

This vintage pie recipe originated with Pillsbury and begins with a batter and apple pie filling. Once baked, the batter surrounds the apples and forms its own crust, making for a super easy pie that is outstanding!

Buttery biscuits baked in apple pie filling with brown sugar, cinnamon and extra apple pie spices, finished with a powdered sugar glaze, make for a belly-warming sweet treat.
